We lined up without tickets and waited about 30 minutes, for €8 it is completely worth it. David is much bigger than you'd expect even knowing the size, it has incredible presence. The rest of the gallery wasn't of interest to me so I can't comment on it, but worth lining up and paying just to see David.

This is tough. Seeing Michelangelo’s David is obviously THE highlight. It’s beautiful, and you could simply stare at it and study it for some time. That alone is worth the price of admission. But, unless you’re super into art history or are taking a relevant class, not even the guided tour can really help you understand the rest. My €25 tour was completely NOT worth it. Pay the €8 to get in and wait in line and see the David. You’re better off.

It has been many years since I visited the Galleria dell'Accademia and I still remember the thrill of seeing the Statue of David. It literally gave me goosebumps. The day before I visited the Vatican Museum expecting to have this reaction to the Sistine Chapel, however I was suffering from visual overload by the time I got to the chapel, it didn't impact me. I paid little attention to the other art at the Galleria and I don't know if it paid off or if David is just that spectacular. What ever I paid to get into the Galleria at that time, I would gladly pay twice as much to see the David again.

Great little art gallery. Lots of art. If you like art, its a good place. Each room has one of those explanation sheets for the paintings in each room, so it made it really interesting even if you have no background in art. They also have a place for you to store luggage. Would recommend skipping the audio tour. I didn't think it was worth the money....its like one painting per room. Maybe. Just use the papers. :)

It's a small gallery with the main attraction being David. The line are extremely long during the day to get in.

Pro tip: buy tickets in advanced, online, to make reservations, or wait until an hour or so before closing to get your ticket. You'll get in faster and can experience more of Florence if you do that. Last thing you want to do is spend your precious time waiting in line.
