We were terrified about returning the car after reading the other reviews, but we had no issues, so don't freak out too hard. We were charged the amount we were told at the time of rental for our week-long trip. (We picked up the car in Florence, and returned the car to Catania Airport, and Auto Europa had the most reasonable rate for this trip.)

Beware : scam ! When we returned the car, the staff checked it and found missing gum on one tire but it wasn't like a scratch or cut, more like a defect from the tire production process. I don't see how this damage could happen on the road, even if I had hit a sidewalk which I did not.
Anyway, we were late for our flight and did not have time to argue so I just paid for a replacement tire (215€ : luxury tire !), which I'm sure will never be replaced... and another customer will be forced to pay for the same "damage".
Afterwards, I have the impression, as somebody else commented, that the staff jumped at this tire, as if he already knew about this defect. He did not even bother checking the other tires...
Stay away from them ! If you really want to rent with them, then pay attention to any damages, even the tiniest one, and do not forget to check the tires.

It worked very well for us. Good car, cheap prices, no problem at all and they were hlepful in returning my phone which I had left in the Car ...

I was also a victim of a fraud made by Sicily by car- AutoEuropa. I picked up a car from Catania- the car was almost brand new and we didn’t find any damage on it. When we came to return it (also in Catania) member of staff checked the car carefully, especially front windscreen. He didn’t even look for other windows. Obviously he know what to look for, because he found nearly invisible, tiny damage on the windscreen. We are sure, that nothing hit the car when we use it, so that damage must have been there before we had rented a car. Moreover when we ask an attendance how much we are supposed to pay, he told us wrong number - when we checked it in the agreement in the office, it turned out, that the price is 10 times bigger that he just said!
To sum up: A client gets a car with small, invisible damage and he is charged “costs of repair” when he gives the car back. I don’t know what they will do with this car now, but probably it the windscreen will not be replaced and another customer will be forced to pay for the same damage. My recommendation- avoid Sicily by car- AutoEuropa.

Do not go with this company!!!! i recently hired a car through this company. They took a holding deposit of over 1000 pounds which they guaranteed to return to me on delivery of the car. On the way back to return the car, a semi trailer's tire burst and hit the front of the car, damaging it. The driver stopped and a full accident report was made. The driver acknowledged that it was 100 percent his fault. On returning the car, the man was very empathetic and looked over the accident report. He acknowledged that it was the fault of the other vehicle an told me that he was refunding the full amount of the holding deposit.
One month later and the deposit has not been refunded. I called them up and they told me they took the deposit because of the damage to the car, even though it was through no fault of my own and the semi trailer had admitted full responsibility for it. NOt only did they lie to me, saying they were refunding the full amount, they have fraudulently taken over a 1000 pounds of my money. When i call up they just hang up. DO NOT with this company.
