Brief History of the institute

Kumasi Technical Institute was established in September, 1976 by the government of Ghana with the support and in collaboration with the Canadian International Development Agency (C.I.D.A).

However, academic work started in January 1977. Initially, the institute was administered by Ghanaian personnel with Canadian counterparts serving as counsellors until May 1978; when the Canadians begun to hand over the institute to a wholly Ghanaian administration. The last of the Canadians left in June, 1979.

Kumasi Technical Institute is situated on a 40 acre piece of land donated by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Opoku Ware II. It is situated on the north of Anglican Senior High School, on the west by Regional Education office and GNAT Hall, on the east by the West African Examinations Council and on the south by the American and other private hostels.

This school is one of the well doing School's to talk about when discussing athletics...and also trains it's students in the acquisition of skills and technical experience.
