Hotel was clean and tidy and internal decoration was nice. It has some vintage vibe to it, until you reach the rooms. They are decorated like spartans are about to train in them.
Staff was polite although maid forgot our room at one point.
Also, whorehouse and a church are just across the street so add a star if you're into that.

I have very fond memories of the Unterbaarer Hof Gasthof und Pension at Ulmer Straße 218 86156 Augsburg, Deutschland from the time that I was stationed at the 30th Field Hospital at Flak Kaserne from 1967-69. On our way back to the base after walking through the snow, nothing tasted better and restored warmth faster than a bowl of hot Goulashe Soupe! I used to win enough pfennigs and marks on the machines to buy a steak dinner!
I'm happy to say that when I returned to Augsburg in 2002 the Unterbaarer was still in operation and better than ever! The proprietors were very friendly. The have upgraded everything and it is very clean, bright and cheerful. I hope to be able to stay in the Pension the next time I visit my beloved Augsburg.
