the coco ocean resort has the potential to be a great hotel to stay in but is very far from being a four or five star hotel. The quality of accommodation, service, food, excursions , cleanliness and general standards are inconsistent and vary according to who's dealing with it. I had a great meal in one of their restaurants one day and the next day the same meal was awful - their excuse was that 'it was a different chef'. the wild life excursion to Senegal, costing over £70, where you are driven around in an open top jeep for hours, only to end up seeing a few animals. when we complained we were told we were 'lucky' because some tourists had not seen any animals at all. I would like the hotel to do well but they have to pay attention to details and the complaints, of which there were many, and not just from my group. anyway, i have just got back and thought i get this off my chest

Oscar, the new chef from Spain, is perfect. He was generously taking shots with me and my friends. This place makes you feel like your in another country. Best food I've had in Gambia. Only challenger is Ngala.

Very enjoyable lunch and afternoon by the sea. Foil wrapped butter and absence of drink coasters rather detracted from an otherwise 5 star environment. Food and service excellent.
