Always slightly uncomfortable about animals in cages, but the enclosures at Prague zoo are larger than in many other places, and the animals seem well treated. This is a very big place with a lot to do for kids. Take a map to avoid getting lost. The furnicular is a good way of getting up and down the hill (cost CZK 25, you need coins). Some signs are also in English. Note that parking can be tricky, and it's very expensive, so if possible use public transport.

I hated this part of our holiday.
I cannot believe there are ANY 5 star reviews but there are dozens.
The enclosures are so small.
We saw elephants grouped around one small tree trying to get some shade.
Wolves with NOWHERE to run.
I saw the conditions, the lack of space, the birds with net above them about 8 foot high and I put invisible blinkers on my eyes, didn't look to either side and walked out as fast as I could.
I am not a huge sentimentalist and I am not a soppy animal owner - but I cried !!!

Awesome ZOO, well-kept animals, a lot of various species. Great organisation of a detached parking lot and bus transportation. The quasi-restaurants and bistros inside with endless queues and all fried are a big shame. Walk time to just have a look ~4-6 hours. To really see everything in detail, I would assume a couple of days.

Awesome! It's huge, animals are well kept and the is a ton of things to see! Prepare to walk a lot, it took us about 4 hours to see everything. Get comfortable shoes :) Some animals can get really close too you, cave with free flying bats and aviaries are fantastic. You can get some food there and it's not that expensive. Very child friendly. Highly recommended!

Huge zoo, can easily spend an entire day wandering around.
Very impressive variety of birds here. So if you're into that, you'll love this place. However, most of the enclosures seemed a bit too small for the birds, they aren't given any space to fly.
Could improve on exhibition of animals. A lot of the exhibits had too much vegetation and you spend most of your time playing hide and seek. I understand that this might be more comfortable for the animal, but perhaps giving them a private space with a live feed webcam could be a better way to give them some privacy.
Food options in the zoo are quite limited, most of the kiosks sell the same thing. That being said, the food is quite affordable, not hiked up too much from prices outside!
