NOT ALLERGY FRIENDLY! Went in and had a friend who is terribly allergic to avocado, when asked it they could opt out, the answer was that they could not as it was already premade... which is ridiculous as every other sushi place in not only the area but every single sushi place we've gone to has been accommodating. Not to mention if it is premade, then its not made fresh to order as other sushi restaurants. The food was bad enough where I could not even finish 1/2 my meal. the Gyoza was a deep fried chinese dumpling that did not taste good at all. Needless to say, you are much better off at ANY other sushi places.

Super expensive for a tiny meal. Mediocre food. The soy sauce bottles are all full though.

Very surprised by the poor overall rating and mixture of responses... I've eaten here for many years, and consider it to be one of the best in Kerrisdale. Irashai is our favourite spot for a nice family dinner, and we go here quite frequently. If you want a review of the other restaurants in Kerrisdale, see below but the result is that Irashai is your best bet for mid-upper class sushi, and excellent value and service. The people that had issues, must have been making a fuss. Irashai is a family run business, and they take very good care of the customers. Would highly recommend.
Shoda hasn't been very good for a long time.
For the best sushi, Ajisai is better/fresher, but it's also 3X the price and no reservations, long line ups, best for very special occasions.
ASA is the other good restaurant in kerrisdale, it's a bit faster, cheaper and more "pedestrian" ie quality slightly less, still good quality ingredients and preparation.
Sushi king house is alright if you really don't care about quality and just want a very filling meal for not much money, ingredients are frequently not fresh, not properly handled ie brown avacado, warm fish, or frozen in the middle, have seen mice running around a few times.

Irashai Sushi has been our "go-to" sushi restaurant in Vancouver for many years now, and we have never been disappointed. The quality of the sushi is excellent and always fresh, in our experience. The menu changes over time, and we love the variety. Service is good and reasonably quick, the atmosphere pleasant, and the restaurant is comfortable and clean. Recognizing that this is Kerrisdale and the food quality is excellent, we think the pricing is fair.
