I've always heard great things about this beach. Coming for the first time I have to saw I was impressed. I love that we have this little hidden gem by the airport.

One of the best views of the airport. You can see planes landing or taking off. Great for walks, runs or even picnics on a nice sunny day.

I bicycle out to this park about once a week. It is a fabulous 7 km bike ride in each Direction. The park has good public washrooms and even has a disabled button open the doors. There is even a mat leading to the beach so people don't get their feet all sandy!

beautiful place, even with the planes every few minutes its calm and serene. Loads of water birds you watch and a very long breakwater(8k return)to walk along. Great for a walk and picnic.

IONA Beach Park- beat short "Getaway from it all" spot. About 15 minutes drive from centre of Richmond. Access via road to airport - turn right on Templeton and just keep driving straight until you can' t drive any further..and you ate there! Awesome spit - Loved by naturalist a and bird watcher alike..lots of spots to ride bike and or hike. There is a partition that goes our 4km over the water ..breathtaking views of ubc area - the islands on Tehran way out and of course Mount Baker and Richmond when toy walk back. Take a lunch as its about an hour each way.. Lots of bull rushes - and birds ..yoy will always see a few photographers with monotonous lenses taking bird pictures. LOVE the sounds of the birds and the crickets- you will think you are miles to the nearest city (except for the airplanes coming into the Airport..go early in the morning - 8am as the air is so fresh . You will typically see Eagles and Great Blue Heron. You can also hike along the shore - to the north west- when the tide is out - you can walk for hours.
