Nice oasis in downtown...stylish and relaxed. Simple cocktail menu and nice tea menu. Cheese board is nicely out together.

Service is not consistent. I've been twice and gotten decent service, but also on occasion have gotten practically no service, even though the place was half empty.

The recent 'face-lift' to the iconic 'Holt's Gourmet' café in the Holt Renfrew Centre concourse is sad. Seating within the cafe has been dramatically reduced, the always welcome potted plant on each table is gone, and refreshments are served in paper cups. Considering the outstanding quality of food that the chef/kitchen has become famous for, this cosmetic change smacks of 'cost-cutting', not renewal. If I want cheap and cheerful, I'll walk down the hall to a fast-food joint. If I want a surprisingly delightful experience I will go to...Holt's, are you listening?

Never mind the price. The coffee is terrible. I cannot believe that Holt Renfew or any other brand for that matter would put there name on this poor quality and terrible tasting coffee. Americano and double espresso had to be tossed - I would love my $6.44 back.

We did a walk-in at 1pm and they said no, 45 minutes. Immediately went on their website and got a reservation for 1:15pm that same day. Embarrassing for Nathan, the manager who looked on like a sad little mute, as the host who rejected us previously, had to give us a table. I'm writing this while being seated in the restaurant. Such a shame in embarrassing customer service, as there were clearly seats available at the bar and tables.
So Mr. Nathan Manager in your silly overpriced suit, maybe learn a few lessons in customer service instead of walking aimlessly around the restaurant and acting like a monkey could do your job. If you lie to me again, there will be consequences. Wait a second...I'm not Blair Waldorf. No, if you lie to me again, I'll just go above your little managerial title and make you feel horrible for discriminating against customers and then all this legal stuff will happen blah blah blah. You know the drill.
XOXO
