Once upon a time.......... A longtime ago!!!
Everything has changed since Jacques walkaway. Not that he was a restauranteur but he did know good food and beautiful places from having travelled around the world. The people running this place now have been going in one direction and that is down the drain. It use to be busy in the summer and even this last summer the place was empty. I went during the holidays for a Christmas party and the place was a disaster. The bathrooms are a mess as well as the first floor bar area. The food was so so and that's why I gave it a 3 stars or else I'd have given it a ZERO.

The food is good, the staff is competent and the price is quite high even for the location.

Awful food. We were a party of 18 and everyone's food was horrible. In addition, some guests ordered the table d'hote and were not served all of the courses they paid for. No coffee nor tea was offered after main course just our bills. Way too expensive and an embarrassment to Montreal dining.

We went there during Burger Week. The burger was big, juicy and great.
In the summer it is great because you get to enjoy the terrace.
Also, plus points for any place that has drinks with the word zombie in the name.

I have nothing positive to say about Newtown other than it has a good location. We were seated over an hour late, offered no drink while waiting and the food that followed was well-below average. There was no attention to the customer and they had the audacity to tell us the extremely undercooked lobster was "prepared as it should be". I would not go back and recommend trying one of the many other food options in Montreal
