My walking has never been graceful. It's aesthetic and not painful, but it just doesn't look as it should. As a child, I was diagnosed as having short tendons. When I was a child, I went to a physiotherapist. He yanked a leg up very hard to stretch it. I started crying because he was inflicting pain. He told me I was just "crying for attention." I didn't go back to a physiotherapist for years after that.
In my 20s, I tried again...a different physiotherapist. She would give me a bunch of exercises and leave the room. She never explained why we were doing what we did. I never saw results. I got frustrated and quit.
Just this past year, I was at the gym. A local physiotherapist came up, completely unsolicited, and offered me insoles to help my multiple sclerosis. I explained that I don't have multiple sclerosis. Then he said, "Well, insoles for parkinson's disease." I told him I didn't have that either. The whole experience was as traumatic and disgusting as what I experienced as a 5-year-old. But as angry as I am about it, it did motivate me to find an actual competent physiotherapist.
I called up every physiotherapy office in Kamloops with a series of question and Lifemark was the only one I had any confidence in.
I've been working with Qi Xu. I have for the first time in my life seen actual results. I have tremendous respect for her and renewed faith in physiotherapy. She's the best physiotherapist in town as far as I'm concerned.

Qi and Elyse were incredibly helpful in rehabbing my shoulder. Both are very knowledgeable, professional and friendly.

I went to Life Mark Physiotherapy after being fairly inactive for a year due to cancer treatment. I am sure I had lost most of my muscle tone and just walking up a flight of four steps was a chore. On top of that I had several old injuries that I was scared to aggravate. I had also developed breathing problems. It was difficult for me to get back into shape on my own.
This team of people are all awesome. If there were exercises that bothered my old injuries, they simply showed me a different exercise that would do the same thing without the irritation. They guide you daily on what to do, watch you do it, monitor your progress, ask if you are having difficulties, work with you at your pace so that you do not get hurt, and treat you with respect no matter what shape you are in.
In the time I was there I was able to build enough strength to take my kayak out on some short adventures, I was even able to lift it into the back of the truck on my own. I completed a hike with my brother-in-law to the Top of the World. I am able to ride my bike again. These may seem like small simple things to some but this is a huge step from where I was and I owe it all to the great group of professionals at Life Mark Physiotherapy in Kamloops.
I believe if you really want to build up your strength after any sort of injury or illness, these people can help you do that. I have a long way to go to be back to my old self but at least now I have a strong base to work with and will be able to succeed on my own from here on in.
Thank you so much for that.

Qi was very good at overcoming the speech barrier and finding exercises that would work with my injury and work schedule, (finding stretches and activities I could quickly do at work or at home or even changing my existing regime to make it more tolerable for my body seeing how I wasn't in the greatest shape to start out with) with a great attitude overall from not only her but all the staff I encountered it made the whole process heaven compared to passed experiences.
