Compared to some other Art Galleries in Canada this one is often quite boring. They have maybe one exciting exhibit in a whole year. Last time I went to see the old Italian masters and it was fantastic, but other than that there is not much to look at. Checked the lineup for 2018 and it doesn't look like I'll be attending anything. I would like to see something of a bigger scale - something that would capture public's imagination and get people excited about art. I seem to always find something great In AG of Ontario, so it would be cool those shows made it to us as well. Beautiful building though.
And if I get the response that art is subjective and therefore I just don't understand the kind of art they exhibit, I want to stop them right there. If year after year I get no desire to see this "art" then maybe it's not just me.

Art, Music, food and fabulous crowd. The VIBE event had it all! Thank you Art Gallery of Alberta for inviting me to be your Vibe Artist. Thank you Manon Gaudet and Sofi for such a smooth and pleasant coordination. Thoroughly enjoyed working with you and everyone who joined for the calligraphy activity. Lovely Art gallery indeed!

ABSOLUTELY LOVE this place. There is so much variety here. If one room doesn't excite you, the next will. Captures the love of art in everyone.

It was great. It was a relatively short walk through due to many of the exhibits being closed, but I would love to take another tour when the expansions are completed.
The architecture of this building is amazing. There is a cafe on the second floor with a little terrace that you can sit outside.
However, I think they serve instant coffee.

We went to the art gallery with a group of friends with kids,12 in total, late at night- it was about an hour before closing. We found there were plenty of room to spread out and explore. The displays were simple enough to browse quickly or there were lots of information about a piece if one is more interested. Bonus points for the art room for hands on art for kids lets them explore Indigenous art and information surrounding the subject of residential schools and its history and reparations etc were on display which we found informative as well as" here it is again" kind of feeling because it's being mentioned or represented in some way wherever we go. The Gretzky display took up too much space for no reason except to show various trials of pretty much the same thing- if we may put simply redundant. Overall, it's a positive and leisure experience.
