I came here after reading the TripAdvisor recommendations. I am thoroughly disappointed. The tavern 'atmosphere' is not good but lonely because barely anyone but English speaking tourists come here. BE WARNED. There isn't value in this restaurant unless you prize greasy food and slow service.

A nearby shop recommended this restaurant and I'm just utterly shocked about the service.
The lady who served us at first was very nice but not a fluent English speaker. So there were some misunderstanding in regards of recommendations for Belgium and vegetarian food. Anyway, we explained to her that we wanted to eat something Belgium but maybe she misunderstood that we wanted some veggies. She told me they only have Bruschetta etc. probably she thought we were looking for veggie food, so we thought there was nothing special here and wanted to eat somewhere else.
but out of courtesy we just ordered a menu for one person to try along with the drinks that we already have on our table.
Then another waiter came and took our spoons and forks. On my mothers request that she wanted to share the menu with my brother, he reacted extremely reluctant and was insistent on taking back his fork and spoon like we were going to steal it.
Maybe it's a cultural thing that ppl think it's rude to share food but this was not a high-class establishment for once.
I was so shocked about the treatment that I asked him if it's some sort of law in Belgium that ppl aren't allowed to share food because in Germany it's fine to do so, especially when the portions are larger.
But he said that the chef doesn't like it if portions are shared so ok we handed over our forks and spoons bc we didn't wanted to argue over that matter anymore.
Great way to make your guests feel comfortable. I tend to rather starve than let ppl treat me like this.

Nice little place. Tasty food and good value for money meals. Good playlist on the background. Only downside a little "kitchen" smell when you enter.

Very good food at reasonable prices. Nice ambiance too. It was a bit too warm inside which made me feel too cold when leaving though. Only complaint I have is that the foods take a bit long to be served
