Originally, we went there only to visit the Lion's Mound, but then found out that it is connected to an underground memorial/museum, and that you have to buy a ticket for the whole sight (museum, panorama, mound) to climb up the mound. Tickets are 17€ for an adult, with only a slightly reduced rate for children, which is in my opinion way overpriced for a cultural/historical sight! With a family, you can easily pay 80€ here just to get in! Don't get me wrong, the museum is definitely nice, it is very modern and you really get a good impression of the battle, the developments leading to it, and the overall era. The audioguide is helpful, and the 4D movie (3D movie with some smells and vibrations) is nice too, even though it sometimes appears a little cheap (acting, special effects...). The Lion's Mount is very impressive and you get a great view over the battlefield.
We had a great afternoon there and I would give 4 or 5 stars if it cost about half as much.

The Waterloo Memorial is a great attraction for people who are interestes in history.
Audio guides are available.

My favorite part is the panorama, which has been there longer than the museum. The panorama is a huge painting that stretches 360 degrees around a vantage point, it's absolutely beautiful.

Excellent, very thorough multimedia exhibition of Napoleon's rise and downfall. Thoroughly fascinating and informative, and very well executed.
The climactic "4D" film (which is a 20 minute 3D film highlighting some events at Waterloo) is a bit of a letdown with fairly poor 3D, disappointing CGI and terrible acting.
But the rest of the museum MORE than makes up for it! Very much worth the price of admission!

Visitor's centre with a two hour audio tour guiding you through a complex history - if you are patient enough, and have a good back ground understanding of European history. A 3D film gives you the feeling of being in the middle of the battle, but you still need a good background to understand the progress of the battle of Waterloo. Not recommended for young children, but this was not mentioned anywhere. We basically just wanted to climb the memorial mount but had to pay full price of 17 Euro per adult to do so...

An excellent day out, we were lucky with lovely weather and the views are spectacular. Excellent visitor centre with a great 4d film of the battle. Very informative and not overly expensive. Restaurant near by provides good food again at a reasonable price. We spent all day wandering around, climbed the 266 steps to the lion and walked down to the farm. Recommended.
