I have been more than unpleased with the care with the antenatal clinic at Wollongong Hospital. Being pregnant is hard enough and dealing with the clinic hasn't made that strain at all easier. I go there now every week as I'm nearly 38 weeks and all I get done is my blood pressure then get told that I can go home. What's the point of going? I may as well just see my free doctor, even he does a million times more. I even asked to see the labour ward and just got told that it was on the second floor. Thank you for letting me know exactly where to go if my waters break in the middle of the night.

A sad case of patient care and work focus outcomes instead of patient care. Unfortunately for my wife and i this meanr no staff responding to emergency call when we were in the birth suite. There was a lack of care throughout the labour and the final kicker was myself delivering the baby in the shower and then running into the coridoor after handing my son back to my distraught wife when the birth attendants finally arrived. :(

I have four children, all of them born in different hospitals. My youngest was born at Wollongong and it was BY FAR the most pleasant hospital experience I've had. The nurses were wonderful. I actually thought they were abnormally nice lol.
The doctors including during the pregnancy appointments, were very courteous even when they're under a lot of pressure.
Baby was overdue and I was induced. Even though I was low risk, there was always a midwife and I was so well supported.
The health assessment for baby was VERY thorough, more so than other hospitals.
After the birth, there were times that understaffing was obvious, but nothing that was serious.
It was (apart from the ouchie birth- thanks bub) a pleasant hospital stay.

Love the staff.. thanks to all. Hospitals have their own time zone though. Things happen but at their own pace. Sometimes frustrating but the system saved my life. Where would we be without these great men and women.
