I just moved down from Sydney and while the gym and the people are nice, I come to train and the opening hours are attrocious 6 am on weekday and 9 am on weekends. How are you suppose to fit in a decent session before work, and those weekend hours destroy the rest of your weekend.
I have been a member of VA for years and how this is considered acceptable operating hours astounds me. I pay substantially more here than in Sydney and honestly, it's not worth it with these poor hours. As such, I'm looking at other local gyms, gyms that respect their clienteles time and have reasonable hours for those who work.
Melbourne may be the home of culture and coffee but it's Dedication to fitness leaves a lot to be desired.

Without a doubt the best gym I've ever been to. Beautiful and spacious building.. feels much better than the usual cramped gyms we all know. Enormous range of equipment, most of which is now brand new (all replaced in dec). Lockers and showers are great to... clean, never smell, and plentiful. Pool/spa/sauna are all being renovated so I can't speak for them. Staff always have a smile and are very approachable. I was a member when the gym first opened years ago, and now work nearby so joined as soon as I could. No where else compares. It's definitely expensive at $30+ p/w but worth every penny.
