Ever since getting a diagnosis of Avascular Necrosis for my right femur (lack of blood supply, causing dying off of the bone !!) and being awfully shy of scalpels, I've been keen to change my lifestyle explore what other options might be available to help boost blood supply to the area, and therefore hold off at least the progression of the problem.
Rather than rush into the surgeon's recommendation of hip replacement and bone graft (which did not offer terribly good odds for success anyway) I've done my best to lose a few kilos and also try the Endermologie treatment at MFARC. Apart from all the ladies being absolute gems, over the last eight years of a few weeks regular treatment whenever I am back in Melbourne, I kept noticing two really wonderful outcomes after each treatment: instant pain relief and overall well-being and improved fitness!
Admittedly these effects don't last for more than a few days but I tell you most solemnly, this treatment is far better for me than forever having to take painkillers, some of which make you constipated, while others are not good for your stomach!!
I am quite sure there are enormous health benefits for others suffering diabetes, or other osteo-arthritis and vascular problems, if only the medical profession showed more interest in researching this...and a little less enthusiasm for surgery, especially given the variable success rates of the latter, as noted on a recent ABC 4 Corners programme, "Wasted" 28th Sept 2015!
I a sure I have gone on too long now but, honestly, way beyond the beauty industry's focus on cellulite, it's high time we started to acknowledge the health benefits (improved blood supply) that also come from Endermologie! Pain relief without taking drugs, improved sense of well-being, assistance with improved fitness when paired with sensible eating and exercise ....and eight years on, I still have been able to avoid surgery ...and even do the occasional pirouette!!
