Never have I experienced such a poor overall dining effort.
Advertised as B.Y.O So we did.
On 3rd attempt to get a waitresses attention, someone actually realised we had previously been seated. 1 waitress from the 2 knew her job, but was tending literally, to all tables. Being a Friday night, off peak period, fairly busy. She did her best.
We ordered mains, and waited, and waited, whist others ate and came and went.
We got 2 quick fleeting apologies for delay, but no explanation or offer of a nibble complimentary.
I have spent decades in hospitality.... Not Impressed. Eventually after an hour and 20 something minutes our meals arrived.
They were well presented... That being the highlight.
Mine meal was good, nothing special, Seafood trio. And I was starving,
Unfortunately, my friend, who unlike myself, had never eaten Greek, was recommended the lamb by both myself and waitress. "Greek's do the best ever" were my words, I later had to humbly eat.
The waitress assured her "all lamb would fall apart"
She ordered lamb backstrap kebabs.
They were comparable to rubber door stoppers. The knife would not cut the diced meat and it projected itself from the plate, bouncing on the floor. I was horrified.
How can backstrap be F...ked up. Almost impossible. But they managed it.
We complained, and the meal wisked away and us being told, my friend could eat vegetables whist they remade the order. After already being there 1.5 hours we contemplated how long it would take and she obviously didn't want a second crack, which she told the waitress.
Another woman we had not seen appeared and asked would my friend prefer a different dish? She also confessed it was the 2nd lamb complaint that evening and they had just changed butcher's
My friend agreed to change to seafood. They delivered some undercooked vegetables whilst she/we waited.
Her meal arrived and she ate little, as not fussed on calamari, which was abundant.
We were delivered the cheapest dessert of baklava " on the house a $9.50 apology.
Again... Ordinary.
We then asked for the bill...... This was the final straw.
They charged us for 2 seafood trios not initial disasaster dish of lamb,which was $5.00 less!!!!
We asked to speak to the manager. And the young woman who had "appeared" to handle our complaint and was finalising our bill was it.
Apparently paying extra for a dish after 1st in inedible is the owners policy.
I disputed this and stood firm, that we would not be paying extra, and wanted to speak to owners.
They would not be in until Tuesday and of course the butcher would be discussed.
I mentioned I had previously spoken to, who I believed was 1 of the owners earlier, as to why no Octopus on menu, as Greek's do awesome Occy. He said they could not purchase decent octopus and wouldn't serve sub standard food?????????
Therefore If already having complaint of the dish earlier, why continue serving "sub standard" food then expect customers to pay difference for something edible.
She took extra $5.00 off and gave me a business card, if I wished to contact owner.
We were leaving next day. So took the card and said I'll get in touch.
The only downer on an otherwise perfect holiday.

My wife and I dropped in unannounced for dinner tonight and the staff at el greko welcomed us without a blink of an eye. The staff were so attentive and polite, drinks were on the table within seconds.
As we didn't have a reservation the first table we were seated wasn't the best but a few minutes later we were whisked away to the best VIP table in the restaurant.
The food was so delicious and fresh and left us wanting more but we didn't need more because we were adequately full. Great job guys see you next time.
