A friend was having a birthday, and after reading the Yelp reviews, I wasn't too excited and went in feeling pretty hesitant.

The prices are what you would expect with such a high profile location along the strip in Southbank, though it has to be mentioned that it is very easy to get to, there is parking just on the other side of the road and plenty of public transport nearby.

No complaints about the food itself, it wasn't bad, but now what I would call exceptional. We were there on a Sunday night and there where still a few empty tables. The choice of music was not the best, it was too loud, upbeat, and just didn't make for the best atmosphere in my opinion from what you'd expect in Turkish, but this is something that many Australian restaurants just don't know how to do well. Perhaps us Australians are just ignorant when it comes to that.. It's bearable if you're just there to drink a lot of alcohol and forget everything else, perhaps that's why they play it?

Many of the reviews criticize the restaurant for getting orders wrong, and this was no exception from my night there. They completely forgot to bring out one of my orders! After reminding two waiters of this, eventually they brought out the forgotten dish, however to their credit, they gave it to me for free, so no complaint there, though it was one of the less expensive dishes that got forgotten. The waiters did have a slightly hard time working out the orders from our 10 people strong table, but they can be forgiven as they are quite tricky situations.

It's worth a look if you're in the area and looking for something Middle Eastern, and you're not cash strapped. Not bad, just not the best.

We ordered the banquet and weren't disappointed. We have travelled in Turkey and found the food here delightfully authentic. The dips were fresh, the bread baked to perfection and the meats were tender, juicy and flavourful. Service was friendly and very attentive. I couldn't fault the place at all. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We recently had our annual meeting for lunch at Ahmets Turkish Restaurant and the food was great. Fresh tasty and filling. Staff were helpful and prompt..Everyone walked away pleased and satisfied! Thank-you

The bread starter and my friends mains were alright, however my 'kebab' was cubes of soggy bread with chewy meat and an overly salty, oily sauce which I could not eat because it was so vile. When I told what I assume to be the manager at the end of the night, he insisted that he had eaten that particular dish earlier on, insinuating that I was lying about my experience, even though I had left an entire plate of food untouched. Awful experience especially how I was made to feel at the end by the manager. Nothing was offered as a reimbursement. We were told there would be no splitting of the bill and 'there is an ATM outside if you don't pay on one card'. Don't waste your money or time - better to go to a kebab shop at 3am in the Valley and pay $8 than $30 for this experience!

Great food and service but won't be back due to their inflexible payment policy on the bill. They refused to take payment on 2 credit cards. Told us they don't split the bill. We weren't asking them to split the bill. We simply wanted to process two card payments of equal value on the eftpos terminal but they refused. Not good enough.
