Hit my mid 60's with a thud. Work, personal, waist line, bad back, metal knee - you know, the sort of stuff you accrue too easily.
One day, I found I could not get down on the floor, without falling the last 50cm.
That was it! Time to change the settings.
That's when I found Cultivate Calm.
Did a bit of yoga 20 years ago but this was much, much better.
Great timetable means lots of choices of classes to attend, plus a range of yoga styles.
Started just looking for some flexibility and Yin and Basics have helped with that; but in the process have found my thinking is now clearer.
Also, I was keeping my chiropractor in business, with constant back spasms but now, he's had to downgrade his lifestyle, as I have not seen him for 10 months, thanks to the twists and back work in the classes.
The teachers are exceptional. All have a nice, relaxed demeanour but take the time to explain the poses and the goals of each position. Not only that, but they provide several levels of intensity.
The support provided by them, and by the other yogis is really refreshing.
And blokes, don't think yoga is a 'girly' thing. Many blokes attend most of the classes I have been to.
Guess you could say I went for the exercise, but discovered a lifestyle.

This studio is my favourite place to practice yoga. The teachers are amazing, friendly and full of knowledge, tips and advice to help you on your yoga journey. The venue is like a hidden loft with a calming and relaxing atmosphere.
I started yoga at this studio 18 months ago. Through the skills of the teachers and the calming atmosphere, I have learned how to de-stress my body, relax my mind and live my life with more ease whilst also challenging my body in ways that keeps me strong and fit.
A friendly and welcoming studio, with no competition, just a community of people coming together to practice yoga and share some laughs along the way. There is a class suitable for everybody. I love the meditation class on Sunday afternoons which is a great way to reset before the week ahead. This studio is transformational, once you put in the practice and show up!

I’ve been with Cultivate Calm for almost a year. I love this studio! Why?
1. The teachers are really knowledgeable so I keep learning.
2. The timetable has classes at the times I want to attend.
3. The location is great with plenty of street parking.
4. Above all, it lives up to its name. I’m a bit of a stresshead. I’ve always struggled to find some type of regular activity or exercise I could maintain. I don’t have to force myself to go to Cultivate Calm - I look forward to going. Yin yoga really has changed my life.
Thankyou Monica and the team!

Have done a little yoga over the years I wanted something that was local and had a good variety of times, I also wanted some simplicity. Life is fairly hectic. I found everything at cultivate calm yoga. The instructors are wonderful, very knowledgeable and caring. The studio is simple but to me perfect. The timetable offers plenty of options. No two classes are the same. They also have a range of very affordable options and are great value for money. I have referred a number of friends who have returned from overseas.

I discovered Cultivate Calm by chance a couple of years ago now. I have tried a few yoga studios in Brisbane but CC has definitely become my 'home' studio (even though I have to travel a fair distance to get there). Monica sets a great tone and atmosphere and is really accommodating with work travel and holidays. It is a lovely studio and heated for early morning winter classes which is a real bonus! I have several favorite teachers for different reasons as they bring a great variety of backgrounds, styles and personalities to the teaching (they are all super-friendly and interesting people). This means I have been able to learn different styles of yoga and progress my personal practice. The number of early and mid-morning classes means that I can fit yoga into my daily schedule. If I miss these, there is always the option for the evenings. My 16-year-old daughter is also able to join me for the occasional class, feels super comfortable and has also become a big fan of the studio. At risk of "going over the top", CC as a new second home has been life-changing- I have made some awesome friends and my health has definitely improved over the couple of years. Thanks Monica and team.
